• “If I Had” is one of three songs from the Slim Shady EP that were later remixed and featured on The Slim Shady LP. The song, originally titled with an ellipsis, underwent the fewest changes of the three, with mixing and mastering being the primary differences between the versions. The other songs taken from the EP are “Just Don’t Give A Fuck” and “Just The Two Of Us,” with the latter receiving a complete retitle.

I wrote that shit the same week my car broke down. My fuckin’ engine blew out and a bunch of fucked-up shit was happening all at the same time. I wrote the song during the summer of ’97, but I didn’t record it until the winter. That’s when I recorded the whole [Slim Shady] EP in about two weeks. Interscope heard it, liked it, and wanted to use it for the LP.
