After the early D12 stuff, we kinda disbanded that version of the group, and I think at that time him and Proof were mad at each other — but they are best friends. Em is frustrated. We had to move from Fairport because he’s a dad. I go back home, and I remember he came to my house — my mom’s house — and he said, “Yo, I need some beats. I’m working on this EP. This is my last shot.” And I’m like, “Man, if I don’t get money for beats right now my parents are gonna kick me out again, so I don’t give a damn if it’s $20.” He’s like, “I ain’t got no money but I’ve got a radio.” I said, “Cool, because I ain’t got no radio to make beats on.” So he gave me the radio that he had — and we are both at our wits’ end, because I gotta go get a job now. […] I go make beats on this radio that he gave me, and the first beat that I made was “Low Down, Dirty.”
