Trivia
- Presumed dead, this track marks the return of Steve Berman after being shot by Eminem on The Eminem Show and not appearing on his previous album Encore or ’s second album D12 World.
- The track marks the fourth skit in Eminem’s discography and the first of those skits to feature a song from the same album it appears on.
- In the skit, Steve Berman questions why the album is on two CDs, as Eminem was originally planning to release two albums in 2009: Relapse and Relapse 2. The sequel was ultimately cancelled, but the line later proved fitting when Eminem released Relapse: Refill, a deluxe version of Relapse issued on two CDs.
Words from Steve Berman
“I was so anxious when we were finally coming to Relapse, and I remember having the conversation with [Paul] about that and [he] was like, “You lived,” and it was such a moment for me. I felt like redemption, like “I made it, I really lived.” I feel like that’s the one that took it all the way - to the most extreme place. [...] I feel I reverted back to the worst version of the horrible, mean record executive that was not gonna take anything from this guy - just no sympathy at all, not giving him one break.
It’s interesting to look at it through [the] lens of where he was at creatively at that point and how important for all of us Relapse was. And I think it gave all of us a little bit of a setback to know that he’s not some big selfish superstar. He’s a real person and a real artist and he was gonna stick to who he was and who he is. And I feel like that’s what that period in history was to me and the importance of that time.
