Words from MAJ
“I got a call from my manager, and he was like, “Yo, you would not believe who just did this.” He didn’t even really want to tell me who it was at first because Eminem’s a really secretive person when it comes to drops and anything releasing. So my manager told me, “I got this reference track from this person.” Then he sent me the reference track, and it was saying, “I told my dawgs we gon’ get right in a year,” and I was like, “Okay, I’d actually fuck with this. I actually wanna try this out.”
The first thing I did was sit on it for a few minutes, and he still didn’t tell me the name of the artist or anything. Then, like, two hours later, I called my manager back and was like, “Yo, you have to tell me who this is.” He made me guess so many times, and I was like, “Oh my God, just go ahead and tell me.” Then he straight up told me, “Eminem,” and I was like, “Whoa! What!”
Paul Rosenberg later told me on a phone call that Eminem had given him a list of new artists. He had heard one of my songs and was like, “That’s the guy,” so he picked me, which is insane.
Then he gave me a description of how he wanted it. I had the style of it, but I had to make it more jumpy for him. He was literally telling me, “I’m so talented, I’m amazingly gifted,” and I’m like, “Bro, you’re fuckin’ Eminem. You cannot be telling me all this, bro.”
I’m just so blessed to have this opportunity and blessed to be a part of the discography. Being a huge fan, growing up with his music, listening to him when times were low, and watching my mom and dad listen to Eminem when I was young, it’s insane to now be a part of it all.
