I was working with Alex a lot at that point, and [Em] was working on Dre’s album. Alex got invited out, and he brought me with him, and we presented “I Need a Doctor” — that was when I met Em for the first time. I was really nervous, very quiet. You know, I grew up listening to Em — I mean, “Stan” was one of my favorite songs of all time — so to be working with him was a complete dream come true. [Dre] was so sweet — I couldn’t believe how kind he was. I remember him sitting me down in the kitchen, just by myself, and he was just like, “Thank you so much for coming and working on this.” I was like, “What’s going on? Am I in a dream?”
