I made “Square Dance” on the set of 8 Mile. I was working on music between scenes, and I got the idea for the bass line. It kind of sounds like a rock guitar, doesn't it? I mean, in my head it did. I remember running to the studio trailer and humming it to Jeff Bass and Luis Resto. Those guys can pretty much play anything. It always amazed me that I could hum it one time, and they'd get it right away.
