Trivia
- Eminem featured and on the 8 Mile soundtrack during the height of their feud, with neither artist reportedly knowing the other would appear. Nas was supposedly upset that he wasn’t informed and that Jay-Z could feature while he wasn’t allowed to include the Bravehearts on his track, “U Wanna Be Me.” It has been rumored that Eminem later apologized by producing Nas’s song “The Cross” for his sixth studio album, God’s Son.
Words from Freeway
“I remember when Jay put me on that joint. I came to the studio, he’s like, “I got something for you, come in here,” and he put the beat on. He’s like, “This is for the 8 Mile soundtrack, for the Eminem soundtrack.” He’s like, “Put a verse on it.” So I’m in there taking my time. I didn’t know if Eminem was gonna be on the record, I just knew what he told me, so I’m like, I gotta take my time on this joint. I’m in there probably working on it for like an hour, then Jay comes in the room like, “What, do you need some weed? What’s wrong with you? Why you taking so long?” And then I finished that joint up, got it done - he actually brought me some weed too, because he must have thought that I was slipping a little bit. But I actually wanted to take my time with it because I knew it was going to be a special joint. That was a blessing to be on that.
